Treatment for children ages 6 years – 13 years

As we continue to serve the growing needs of children in Moore County and surrounding areas, Be Herd has adjusted our approach to servicing families in a more effective way. It is our professional observation that children in certain developmental stages benefit most when their needs are addressed when the challenging moments occur which often take place outside of the therapy session. Our goal is to provide parents and caregivers with the psycho-education and skills to manage those difficult interactions and connect with your child in those moments. When parents feel more equipped, they gain confidence. As a result, their children become more confident in managing emotions and important relationships.

Services begin with six (6) parent-only appointments where you will learn a parenting curriculum that will give you the tools to play an active and supportive role in treatment. After the first 6 appointments the therapist will re-evaluate and determine when services with your child will begin.

We understand that finding a suitable provider is crucial for an effective therapeutic relationship. This treatment approach is designed to enhance you and your child's ability to manage challenging situations and strengthen your parent-child bond.

Be Effective Parenting Group - Practical Parenting Solutions

Parenting is tough! If you have asked yourself the following questions or phrases, the Be Effective Parenting Group is for you.

  • What is normal? Is my child just “being a kid” or is this the beginning of a bigger problem?
  • Why is my child so (mad, sad, frustrated)?
  • Why is my child so unpredictable?
  • Why has my child stopped talking about things?
  • Why is my child so reactive?
  • How can I help my child regulate their emotions better?
  • What is going on with my child?
  • Do I have realistic expectations?
  • I don’t know what else to do.
  • I feel helpless at times.

Be Herd offers small parenting groups to support parents and their families. The feedback we get from participants is they understand themselves better, they understand their children better and they feel less anxious and more confident in their role. Groups are kept to a maximum of four participants to maximize efficacy and maintain intimacy. The course is composed of 6 sessions that take place 9:30am to 11:00am every other Friday. If parents are interested in more information on when the next group begins please call 910-660-1900 or Contact Us.
